finding your moral compass

Paper instructions:
in this reflection paper, discuss your own basis for ethical and moral decisions. avoid the temptation to be simplistic or to not really think about the question. for example, “I just do whatever seems right at the time” is not sufficient. you need to go deeper and think more critically- why does something “seem right”?
your paper will be first person “I” and should contain an explanation of your basis for deciding right and wrong. this paper does need a title page, however, not an abstract or a reference page.

My personal and professional ethics and values are pretty easy to understand. When I need to make a decision, I do not only depend on intuition. I ask myself a series of questions pertaining to the situation. For example, is it legal or not? If I do it would I regret it? Does my decision affect others? And if so, is it in a positive or negative way? A major moral that is important to me is being honest with myself and others. I personally choose to not lie, cheat or steal to achieve a goal. I have learned to try and ignore or walk away from any situations that may result in a negative reaction or ending. Sometimes I am unable to simply walk away or ignore a situation, however, I try to see the positive side of things or strive for a positive outcome. I also know that I do not need to sacrifice all of myself to help others. In the past I would continuously give in any way possible.
It is hard for me to pin point my belief in religion and its use in my decision making. I do not rely on prayer to lead me in the right direction in life. Some people live and get directives solely by the bible, the Ten Commandments, and other biblical documentation.Don’t get me wrong, I do believe in a higher being that has created us and has allowed us to excel in life. I just don’t think it is the sole answer to questions or dilemmas.
I believe in obeying all rules in my professional career. I enjoy giving new and younger officers someone to
