With reference to the painting, ‘Shortly after the Marriage’, in Hogarth’s Marriage à la Mode series, Mary Webster claims that ‘the secrets of a domestic interior have never been more probingly and sharply displayed’. Discuss how interior or private places are exploited in literature or art. 

I would like the essay to have talk about the divsion of public and private spheres, and how the private sphere was meant for women, and how art and literature exploits the private sphere.
