Cultural Identity Paper - African American Perspectives on aging
Compose a (4 page) double-spaced paper on how your culture(s) conceives of, judged, and/or values the aging process. As a member of many identity groups (ethnic, racial, religious, national, etc.), this paper is designed to allow you an opportunity to examine how your own cultural and social identities affect your perceptions of getting older. You will be required to decide how your own cultural, social, and personal beliefs, values, and norms affect the ways you view older adults, and to tie your findings to course concepts (e.g., reading material). Your paper will be evaluated based on 1) your level of insight, 2) your demonstrated understanding of course concepts, and 3) the quality of your writing.
