Legal and Ethical Issues

Federal fair housing laws prohibit discrimination in the rental or sale of property on the basis of race, religion, sex, color or national origin. Some state civil rights laws go further, banning discrimination on the basis of family status and sexual orientation (e.g. California, New Jersey). The Web site www.roommates.com, a website run out of California, helps match tenants who want to share rental housing. Users are required to provide their sex, sexual orientation, parental status, and willingness to live with children. Does this mean Roommates.com violates state housing discrimination laws? Is it fair to hold the Web server responsible for discrimination by its users? How should the court rule?(Reason your arguments after analyzing the situation from multiple ethical perspectives).
