1 Distinguish between the three types of equality: opportunity, treatment, outcome. In your opinion, which of these is most important in determining who should have education and what education they should have? Why do you think so?
2 Are rights universal or culturally determined? Are they alienable? By whom and how should they be enforced? Discuss how your assessment should be applied to a child’s “right to education”.
3 What doyoumean by fairness? Is it fair to allow the market to determine how people are compensated for their work? Or should other mechanisms – for example, compensation according to need, or compensation according to social benefit – operate as well [or instead]? Give reasons for your answer.
