HOW TO WRITE A PROPOSAL
1. To write your proposal
Title
The thesis title should give a clear indication of the topic being studied. There is always the possibility to improve the wording at later stages of your research.
Introduction
Introduce your topic and outline (briefly) the existing debate in the literature. Offer a motivation on why your topic is interesting and explain how you will address the question. Outline the structure of your dissertation.A well – stated description of the problem will also help you to stay focused during your research.
Theoretical Framework
Set out the relevant economics/finance theory, supporting your topic and state the hypotheses that you may want to test.
Data Analysis
Describe the data that you may want to use in your research (country/time period/frequency)
Design and Methods
Outline the empirical model that you may want to use and explain and justify the estimation method.
Work Plan
The proposal should include a detailed work plan, with estimates of time needed to complete each phase of the proposed research.
