Textual Analysis

The essay should be 850 words in length, must list all references cited in MLA format

This essay assignment asks you to analyze the ways words and images work together in the graphic novel Persepolis to represent one woman’s experience of childhood during a very particular time (The Iranian Revolution of 1979) and in a particular place (Iran). Find one or two specific panels in the novel that are interesting for the ways they depict Marjane Satrapi’s experience of childhood. What does this representation accomplish in terms of understanding children and/or the culture of childhood in the context of a particular time and place?
