Introduction to Psychology

That is true, nature and nurture both play a role in intelligence.  In regards, to nurture, a well expressed view by Ridley (1999) provides support to your thoughts, stating that,

"Mother Nature has plainly not entrusted the determination of our intellectual capacities to the blind fate of a gene or genes; she gave us parents, learning, language, culture and education to program ourselves with."

This statement supports that even though we may be born with talents and skill, we can enhance them through learning, education, and other factors, including our parents.  In looking at your example, you share how the presence of nurture helped bring out the musical talents and led to increasing the number of instruments you can play.

How has nature or nurture played a role in developing one of the Gardner's multiple intelligences ?
