Indicative Assessment Requirements for the Module:
You have recently been hired as a graduate trainee by a multinational organisation on completing your undergraduate studies.
The firm has recently been undegoing rapid changes due to strategic and environmental reasons. One of the challenges managers are facing is how to respond to the new challenge of managing a workforce that is increasingly diverse.
The senior management has approached you for advice on the issue. Prepare a report to senior management on how the organisation can effectively respond to this challenge.
Include in your report, a critical evolution of workforce diversity for 21st century organisations and a set of recommendations (at least 5) to the attention of senior management about how the process can be enhanced.
Module Learning Outcomes to be Assessed:
- Introduce students to issue and perspectives in diversity and develope a critical understanding that diversity is not a problem to be managed away, but rather an oppurtunity to develope greater personal and organisational effectiveness.
- increase self awareness in terms of personal perspectives about diversity issues.
- Better understand the “business case” for managing diversity, why managers should care about and devote resources to cultivating and managing diversity in their organisation.
- Enhance skills for identifying and analysing diversity related dilemmas in the workplace.
