The Creation of Blues Music During Slavery Time

Paper instructions:
The Creation of Blues Music During Slavery Time
Music has being a mayor roll in the time of slavery. They were the one’s that invented blues. When Africans where forced to go to America everything was taken away from them except music. They sang different type of songs some of them were work songs, coded songs, and traditional songs.
Some of the popular songs are:
• Religious music (religious songs were usually sung a cappella and accompanied by handclapping and foot stamping): look down that long, lonesome road. Run old Jeremiah. Do, Lord, Remember me.
• Work Songs (work songs helped slave synchronized group task and eased the burden of difficult labor.): Arwhoolie, quittin time song 2, mealtime call.
• Recreational songs (free time, listened and dance to music performed on string instruments.): Shortin’ Bread, Bile them Cabbage Down, Rosy.
I wanted to do my essay about this topic because is something that has always called my attention during this period of time.
The origin of the word “Blues” comes from the color blue that describe the depression they were passing through that time.
This type of music has become a great genre and it all started because of slave. What I like the most is how songs were so descriptive and deep. Music was the only thing that helped them to pass their misery on the fields.
