Paper instructions:
Police precinct initiatives to address racial profiling
Police precinct initiatives to address racial profiling
The Racial Profiling Data Resource Center, set up by the Institute on Race and Justice at Northeastern University, provides tools and assistance for precincts and local governments interested in collecting data looking at racial profiling in their area. Focus on the “Background and Current Data Collection Efforts” sections of the website: http://www.racialprofilinganalysis.neu.edu/background/index.php
Read through the program description, the history of profiling analysis, and take a look at the jurisdictions currently collecting data. Discuss what you think about the initiative – whether it is a good idea, whether it is necessary, whether it could have the power to change behavior at the front lines, etc.
