1) Your thesis statement and the paragraphs should focus on the theoretical issues. Your introduction and conclusion may discuss all of ( and other) these theoretical issues, their place in our understanding of how language works in a community or larger society and your opinions of the importance of the issues you’ve chosen to discuss and highlight. Your thesis is an argument that you have developed on the basis of the text and the stories. E.g.: “A, C and E play a very important role in determining which immigrant groups will have better access to learning the official language of the host* country”.
*the country that receives immigrants.
Length: 750 ~ 1000 words. It is fine if you exceed the word limit by a page. Points will be deducted if you go over the word limit more than that.
Quotations: You should not use more than 2-3 quotations. Use paraphrasing. If your sentence contains “chunks” of 3 or more words in exactly the same order as they are in the original test, I will treat it as plagiarized work.
